Eurospot Hotspots Hotels

Leading budget hotel operator, Premier Lodge, today announced it has signed an agreement with Swisscom Eurospot, the leading pan-European broadband Internet service provider, to install wireless Internet access in all 140 of its hotels.

The service is being introduced into three Premier Lodge sites at Liverpool Albert Dock, Daventry, Northamptonshire and the new site at Southampton Airport this month, and it will be operational at all 140 sites by the end of August 2004.

Wherever customers are located in the Lodge - whether it be the reception, the Solus restaurant area or even the bedroom, they can log onto the Internet using their laptop computers or, personal digital assistants. For those guests that have forgotten or do not have a laptop they will be able to access email and the Internet using the Business terminals that will be installed in the near future.

To access the Swisscom Eurospot service, guests require a wirelessly enabled device. If the device isn't Wi-Fi enabled, guests will be able to loan a WiFi adapter from the hotel's reception. The T-316 Smart WLAN Client is a smart wireless adapter box, which can be connected to the network port of a laptop without the need for any software installation, or configuration.

It is supplied with power from the USB connection in the laptop so does not require an external power supply, thus making the end user's connectivity to public radio networks a truly wireless experience. Guests can buy subscriptions to use the service from Reception or online at www.swisscom-eurospot.com, in the near future they will also be able to buy from the Premier Lodge website www.premierlodge.co.uk at the same time as making their booking, making it very easy and convenient for the guest.

'We recognise that our business customers require access to the latest communications technologies when they are on the move. We are delighted to be working with Swisscom Eurospot to offer this valuable service which is aimed at making the business customers' stay more productive', says Catriona Lougher Smith, Premier Lodge's brand manager. 'This latest scheme reinforces Premier Lodge's reputation for cutting costs, not quality, and reflects on how we are leading the industry in customer care.'

'This deal is great news for Premier Lodge, Swisscom Eurospot and our customers', said Chris Brown, managing director, Swisscom Eurospot UK. 'The addition of these 140 hotels to our European network is a major boost to our service and it ensures that we strengthen our position as the number one broadband Internet service provider for both UK and international business travellers.'
