Strathmore buys two from Milton

Scottish hotelier Strathmore has swooped on two hotels from the troubled Milton chain. The sale, arranged through property agent Christie & Co, involves the Alexandra Hotel and Milton Hotel, both in Fort William.

The new acquisitions bring Strathmore to eight hotels with a total of 782 rooms. Strathmore chief executive Ronnie Rickard said: "We look forward to working with the existing management and staff to further improve the popularity and reputation of these fine hotels."

All four Milton hotels were to be sold to Portland Hotels but this deal collapsed in September when Portland withdrew.
