Golden Tulip UK pushes for 20

Golden Tulip UK is to spend £5.5m building a 119-room hotel at Castleford, West Yorkshire. The property, which will be opposite the Xscape leisure complex, will trade as a Tulip Inn, at the top end of the budget hotels segment. It will generate 45 jobs when it is opened by the end of this year.

The latest investment is part of a drive to reach up to 20 hotels across the UK in the next three years. So far the company has opened hotels under the Tulip Inn brand in Manchester and Glasgow. Building work for another is underway in Gateshead.

The company also franchises the more upscale Golden Tulip brand to hotels in Manchester and Birmingham.
