The founder and managing director of Australia's fastest growing juice and smoothie business, Boost Juice, won the title of Victorian Business Woman of the Year at the 2004 Telstra Business Women's awards this week.Janine Allis also won the state Westpac Group Business Owner award at the ceremony in Melbourne on Tuesday. In a little more than four years, Allis has grown Boost from one store in Adelaide to more than 130 stores in Australia and New Zealand.

In June this year, the company bought out its main rival Viva which added another 24 stores to its portfolio. Allis attributed the success of the business to the fresh, young and dynamic culture that pervades all aspects of the company.

“Boost is not just about one person. I am the up front face of the brand but the company’s continued success is a tribute to all 1,600 staff employed by the company. We are all passionate about the brand and work together to achieve our goals.”

Allis said she spent a lot of time working on developing and maintaining the “vibrant and unique culture” within Boost. “We hold auditions in each state to recruit staff and I am also very involved in selecting new franchisees,” Allis said.

She said she wants to launch the brand internationally in the next 12months. Allis will represent Victoria at the national 2004 Telstra Australian Business Woman of the Year awards in Melbourne at the Grand Hyatt on 23 October.
