Guerillas attack Baghdad hotel

Guerillas fired rockets at a Baghdad hotel, a day after a Black Hawk helicopter crash killed all nine American troops aboard and a C-5 transport plane returned to the capital's airport after coming under fire.

In Tikrit, north of Baghdad, hundreds of American troops conducted overnight raids across the city, capturing 13 loyalists of the former regime who are suspected to be behind attacks on coalition forces.

No one was hurt in the dawn attack on the Burj al-Hayat hotel in central Baghdad, which is used mainly by foreign businessmen and United States army contractors. Three rockets hit rooms around the fourth floor, smashing windows, security guards said.

The guards said they exchanged fire with men in a car as the hotel came under attack.

'I was sleeping when I heard a couple of explosions and the Kurdish guards yelling', said Steve Senter, an American military contractor.
