Mid-class hotels under 7 globally recognized hotel groups in Pudong resisted against market fluctuation during SARS epidemic, thanks to the powerful network resources and price advantages. They are now the first to recover from SARS attack.
Holiday Inn Pudong has been serving long-stay guests from some multinational corporations last month, now maintaining a occupancy rate of 40%, while Courtyard Hotel Marriott has achieved 47% occupancy by far.
There are also some established local Chinese hotels in Pudong mainly serving domestic guests, sales of which have picked up very fast. Shanghai Changhang-Merrylin Hotel, for instance, has achieved 50% occupancy so far, rising 20% from the first ten days of May.(Zhou/J)
