Some 2000 employees from 36 hotels staged an indefinite strike in Cyprus as of Thursday morning, calling for renewal of a collective agreement in the hotel industry. The action was taken to protest the rejection by the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (PASIXE) of a proposal raised by Iacovos Keravnos, Cypriot minister of labor and social insurance, to renew the agreement.
