Nairn puts Glasgow restaurant up for sale

Scottish chef and restaurateur Nick Nairn is giving up the restaurant business to concentrate on his cook school. The chef has decided to put his Nairns restaurant in Glasgow up for sale with a price tag of more than £225,000.

The 40-seat restaurant, which opened in 1997, is to be sold as a going concern and will continue to trade until a buyer is found.

Nairn said that he did not take the decision to sell the restaurant lightly, but that the growing success of Nairns Cook School and the demand for his consultancy services meant that he was unable to devote as much time as he would like to the restaurant.

“The cook school has really taken off and we are currently working on an ambitious expansion. We are expanding the property and increasing the facilities, introducing new courses and getting more celebrity chefs to teach,” said Nairn.

Nairn launched the school, where up to ten budding chefs can pay £100 to spend a day cooking with Nairn and other celebrity chefs, in 2000.
