The hotel will not be closing during the process, it added. A key element of the refurbishment will be the creation of a new, as yet unnamed, bar and dining area to replace its existing Dicksons bar.
General manager David Welch said: 'We believe that our investment over the next six months to transform the Radisson SAS Hotel, Edinburgh will significantly reposition us above many of our closest competitors.'
