Thai 5-Stars cut prices

The famous Peninsula Bangkok Hotel and other five-star hotels in Thailand started to offer unprecedented rate cuts to salvage tourism industry, which had been suffered much by the US-led war against Iraq and SARS, the Nation Channel reported Tuesday.

According to the report, in a once-in-a-lifetime offer, Thais will be able to stay overnight at the five-star Peninsula Bangkok, which was ranked as one of the best hotels in Asia, for just 500 baht (11.9 US dollars). The Peninsula Bangkok, normally charges an average 260 dollars a night. The mega-bargain of the Peninsula Bangkok, which was called by President of the Domestic Travel Association Charoen Wangananont as "unprecedented in the history of the Thai hotel industry," is a sample of the "Unseen Price" campaign run by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and joined by many hotels.
