Icahn interested in buying Las Vegas Hilton

A company controlled by billionaire financier Carl Icahn is in negotiations to acquire the Las Vegas Hilton from Park Place Entertainment, according to the latest edition of Barron's.

The Icahn company, American Real Estate Partners, disclosed in its most recent quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it is in preliminary discussions to purchase a Las Vegas casino hotel with 3,000 rooms.

Analysts believe the Las Vegas Hilton hotel could be worth between $100 million and $200 million, according to Barron's.

Icahn told Barron's the negotiations for a Las Vegas property "aren't active," and he wouldn't disclose the name of the property he is interested in buying.
